A cosmos held together by gravity
Culture is a space of connected objects, and the force that binds it is gravity. This one idea is Cultur-a's navigation system, its conceptual model, and its brand identity at once. It ties directly to the name of the core technology: Gravitas.
Underneath everything sits one rule that must never be broken: the metaphor is physically honest. Every body behaves the way its real astronomical counterpart behaves. A star radiates, a comet reflects, a black hole pulls without shining. When a name and the physics disagree, the physics wins.
The six actions
Every cultural object in the cosmos belongs to one of six actions, the ways a person engages with culture. The framework is built on actions, not media types, so it absorbs any past, present, or future medium without needing a new category.
The trinity
The explorer, the contributor, and the creator are three stages of the same whole. Anyone can move through them. This is the mechanism that removes the wall between the audience and the artists they love: becoming part of the universes you explore is a matter of transformation, not of being a different kind of thing.
Astronaut
Explorer · userWhere everyone begins. Human, deliberately not a celestial body. Travels the cosmos, visits universes, gathers what moves them along the way.
Comet
Contributor · actorPasses through planets and leaves matter behind, becoming part of the objects, the way an actor becomes part of a film. Never a gravitational centre. Shines by reflected light, and is a complete thing in its own right, not a half-formed author.
Star
Creator · authorA centre that radiates. Objects orbit its light, and others navigate by it. Wherever you have authored a work, you shine as one.
The transformation. Becoming an author is a real event, and it has a real physical form: a black hole igniting into a star. The collapse and ignition, the violence of transcendence, the birth of a creator. It is not a standing name for the user, and it is not the Archive.
You can be a comet forever without igniting. Ignition is authorship, specifically.
There is no wall between the audience and the artists they love. You are an astronaut, and you are the same kind of thing they are, earlier on the same map. The only real difference between you and the people you admire is how much light you have started to give off.

The rules that hold it together
These are what make the cosmos behave without being explained. The finer mechanics of each body live with the body itself; these are the broad ones.
Solar system or universe: the binding force decides
A solar system is bound by a person: one author's own body of work, always. A universe is bound by a theme or story that exceeds any one person, which is why it holds works by different authors. Harry Potter is a universe: Rowling's books, Williams' music, Cuarón's film, bound by the story.
A person can anchor a universe, but only when other people's works orbit them. Anthony Bourdain is the example: so much was made about him by others that a Bourdain universe can exist. His own work alone would still be a solar system.
Galaxies and solar systems are two maps, not two floors
A solar system slices the cosmos by author. A galaxy slices it by action. The same object sits in both at once: one Harry Potter film lives in Cuarón's solar system and in the Watch galaxy simultaneously. They are orthogonal views, not a nesting.
A universe has no centre, and no required origin
Nothing sits at the middle of a universe. A universe is a big bang, an expanding field of creativity that keeps making more art. What causes one to form is deliberately not modelled: a book, a film, an era, a community, sheer luck. Like the real thing, no one really knows.
The Archive is your gravitational field
Everything you have gathered while travelling the cosmos. It is the most personal cosmic object you own, and it is not a black hole: a black hole traps light and lets nothing out, the opposite of a place you express outward from. It wears a plain name in the product: Archive.
The non-negotiables
- The physics is honest. Every body behaves like its real counterpart. Physics beats naming when they disagree.
- The transformation is open to everyone. Explorer, contributor, creator: stages of the same whole. There is no wall between audience and artist.
- A solar system is bound by a person, a universe by a theme. The count of authors follows from that, it does not define it.
